Attribution evidence model

Shopify Attribution Tells You the Source. Evidence Tells You What to Trust.

Shopify supports order and channel attribution. AgentGateFee preserves that first-party signal and adds the confidence, execution, multi-touch, and economic context needed for a defensible merchant decision.

Current product boundaryThe Shopify monitor operates in read-only OBSERVE during the private pilot. It does not process payments or hold funds.

Do not compete with Shopify attribution. Make it decision-ready.

Shopify attribution can identify the app, channel, or approved attribution definition associated with an order. That is valuable commerce-side evidence and should remain visible rather than being replaced by a proprietary label.

The next questions are different: did the source introduce demand or execute checkout, which fields support the conclusion, did another touchpoint intervene, and is the cohort economically comparable? AgentGateFee answers only to the strength of available evidence.

Attribution becomes actionable when its evidence stays inspectable.

01

Shopify source

Preserve the platform record

Store the normalized channel or order-attribution value alongside the original field, API version, observation time, and evidence reference.

02

Execution context

Distinguish referral from action

Keep demand_source, last_touch_source, checkout_actor, and checkout_mechanism as separate facts rather than collapsing them into one channel name.

03

Decision confidence

Show what remains uncertain

Attach confidence and reason codes to each derived classification. Conflicting or incomplete signals remain visible.

Build a defensible attribution record

  1. 01Read the Shopify attribution field
  2. 02Retain the raw source and API context
  3. 03Join trusted journey evidence when available
  4. 04Separate demand, touch, actor, and mechanism
  5. 05Assign confidence with reason codes
  6. 06Use the declared cohort in economic reporting

Channel attribution and agent execution are not synonyms.

Attribution tells you where the order came from. AgentGateFee tells you whether the evidence is strong enough to trust and whether the order was economically worth taking. It never treats a strange cart URL, app ID, referrer, or marketing event as sufficient execution proof.

Understand the evidence before changing the workflow.

Does AgentGateFee replace Shopify channel attribution?

No. Shopify attribution is preserved as first-party commerce evidence. AgentGateFee adds confidence, provenance, multi-touch dimensions, and economics.

Why not classify from an app ID alone?

An app ID can identify software involved in a flow without proving the exact actor, action, or customer journey that produced the order.

Can a merchant inspect the reason for a classification?

The intended record exposes supporting evidence, confidence, and reason codes so the merchant can inspect rather than merely accept the label.

Observe the first decision before considering enforcement.
