Primary sources
Vendor announcements and official technical documentation form the evidence base.
Evidence-first intelligence · 2026 tracker
Universal Commerce Protocol adoption is moving quickly, but support, pilot, platform availability, and live merchant implementation are not the same thing. This tracker separates them using primary-source evidence.
Every status is the strongest label the public evidence can currently support.
Classification method
We look for explicit statements about what a buyer can do now, on which surface, and in which market. Co-development, endorsement, eligibility, and future-tense product announcements remain separate signals.
Vendor announcements and official technical documentation form the evidence base.
Geography, channel, merchant type, and rollout language stay attached to the claim.
When two readings are possible, the weaker defensible implementation status wins.
No public evidence means not publicly verified—not proven to be unimplemented.
Merchant and platform evidence

| Company / platform | Status | What is actually verified | Surface | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy | LIVE_VERIFIED | Google says UCP-powered checkout is rolling out now and lets U.S. shoppers buy Etsy items directly inside its AI surfaces. | Google AI Mode in Search / Gemini · U.S. | Google: 2026 commerce outlook |
| Wayfair | LIVE_VERIFIED | Google says UCP-powered checkout is rolling out now and shows a completed Wayfair purchase journey inside AI Mode. | Google AI Mode in Search / Gemini · U.S. | Google: 2026 commerce outlook |
| Shopifycommerce platform | PLATFORM_ENABLED | Shopify says its UCP agentic-commerce tooling is self-serve and developers can access millions of Shopify merchants. That does not prove every merchant has a live Google checkout path. | Shopify UCP tooling / Catalog API / public MCP endpoint | Shopify: Spring 2026 developer update Google: 2026 commerce outlook |
| Target | ROLLOUT_ANNOUNCED | Google named Target as coming soon for direct UCP-powered checkout and later among retailers planned for selected checkout features. | Google AI Mode in Search / Gemini | Google: 2026 commerce outlook Google: May 2026 UCP update |
| Walmart | ROLLOUT_ANNOUNCED | Google named Walmart as coming soon for direct UCP-powered checkout and later among retailers planned for selected checkout features. | Google AI Mode in Search / Gemini | Google: 2026 commerce outlook Google: May 2026 UCP update |
| Nike | ROLLOUT_ANNOUNCED | Google said shoppers would soon be able to try selected UCP-powered checkout or cart-transfer features with Nike. | Google Search / Gemini / Universal Cart | Google: May 2026 UCP update |

It does not mean all users, products, countries, or UCP capabilities are live. It means a primary source confirms a production buyer path within the surface and scope stated in the row.
Reusable status model
These labels are designed to remain useful as UCP expands beyond launch partners and beyond a single buyer surface.
A primary source confirms a user-facing UCP transaction path is operating in production. Geography, surface, and rollout limits still apply.
A vendor explicitly identifies a pilot, early-access program, or limited test, without enough evidence for a broader live classification.
A commerce platform exposes UCP infrastructure to merchants or developers, but that alone does not prove a named merchant is live.
A primary source says an implementation is coming, rolling out, or planned, but does not yet confirm a usable production path.
The organization co-developed, endorsed, or helps steer UCP. Support for the standard is not implementation evidence.
We found no public primary-source evidence sufficient for a stronger classification. This is not a claim that no implementation exists.
Evidence ledger
The tracker favors direct vendor evidence over secondary summaries. The review date records when each source was checked, not when every underlying rollout changed.
Direct evidence for the Etsy and Wayfair rollout; Shopify, Target, and Walmart were described as coming soon.
Announced selected future checkout features for Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, Fenty, and Steve Madden.
Confirms a U.S. pilot, gradual onboarding, and checkout availability for select merchants rather than universal availability.
Confirms self-serve UCP tooling and developer access to millions of Shopify merchants.
Tracker notes
The public evidence reviewed for this tracker supports a narrowly scoped LIVE_VERIFIED label for Etsy and Wayfair: Google says U.S. shoppers can buy their items through UCP-powered checkout in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app. The label does not imply universal access, every product, or every market.
Yes at the platform level. Shopify says its agentic-commerce infrastructure is self-serve for developers and can expose millions of Shopify merchants. We classify the platform as PLATFORM_ENABLED because platform access is not the same as proof that every individual Shopify merchant has a live UCP checkout on every surface.
Co-developing or endorsing a protocol proves organizational support, not a production transaction path. A live classification requires primary-source evidence tied to a real merchant, surface, and usable checkout experience.
It means the evidence reviewed was not sufficient to classify an implementation as live. It does not mean the company has not implemented UCP, and it should not be read as evidence of absence.
From protocol availability to governed action
Map agent identity, delegated authority, policy, human review, and decision evidence before a protocol-enabled checkout becomes a governance gap.
